Plant-powered aeroplanes
may not be a pipe dream!
David Chiaramonti, a specialist in energy systems and energy production at the Polytechnic University of Turin in Italy, wants unused, marginal and degraded land to produce clean fuels for aeroplanes.
The research project called BIO4, has received EU funding to increase the supply of the only type of sustainable aviation fuel currently available: esters and hydroprocessed fatty acids, known collectively as HEFA.
The European Green Deal

The European Green Deal will be funded between NextGenerationEU budget, or a third of the €1.8 trilion of investments made from the recovery plan since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Brent remains above 87 dollars as investors
anticipate a drop in supply!
Oil prices kicked off the week on a high, extending the gains seen last week, boosted by expectations of production cuts by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) and the release of positive industrial figures in China.
Oil prices rose in March for the third month in a row, with a barrel of Brent crude remaining above 85 dollars since the middle of last month, after OPEC+ signalled its intention to extend the production cuts in force until the end of June, in order to keep prices sustained.
